In the movie Merchant of Venice, Bassanio wants to help his friend so he borrowed lot of money from Shockley. However, when they were discussing about the contract  and the details in the contract, Shockley was full of rage and then formed a unethical contract.

In my opinion, Shockley intend to charge large sum of interest and also said that if Bassanio wasn't able to pay everything back. He has to pay with his own flesh as replacement, which is very inappropriate. Because he was trying to revenge for himself. Although he had been insulted for a long time, they didn't do anything harmful to his life.

In conclusion, we can tell that in renaissance period, they didn't really have any regulation for contracts and this will cause lots of problem. Like the example above.
